GZ2. Fired by the club!

I strongly suspect it was caused by my complaining about some nickel and dime locker room key charges. As QB says, not our kind of people

Furniture and Club and Tub

April 30. Sunny and slightly warmer. Very significant wind. 40 mph gusts according to the pronositco

Bed and chairs due today. Arrived without incident and had fast install

Tried the Waterworks Hot Tub again, this time after adding a mat and Keen shoes. Worked quite well. Yeah!

Welcoming/marketing drinks and dinner at the Aquidneck Club. Drinks with the Murphy’s and then fish dinner on the patio. Decent meal. Lots of wind walking each way.

GZ2.0

April 18, Sunday, most items put away and sorted, so a break….. first using of the gym! Well equipped but not well oiled. QB thinks not the quality level of Equinox.

Hot tub, waterworks in the apartment. Good tub, very slippery, no overflow valve. Hard to use this much water :-). Leg felt much better afterwards. Needs a rubber mat on bottom to get purchase; too hard to get out.

Tuesday: M &G arrive. Great to see them,

4/22 Thursday: incredible wind. Howling up in the apartment. Could barely put the chairs on the balcony. According to April this wind is abnormal, Generally windy around the tower but not like this.

Sunday 25th. First gathering of the Newport pod. Well, the pod plus Ellen and Evan (nephews of George), who are leaving the area tomorrow. Nine in total today, will be nine when Marcia and Bruce return from Florida. Dinner at Stoneacre brasserie in Newport. Handsome place designed by Dan. Sadly, food mediocre and not hot. Good setting and the only place that would take nine on rather short notice.

Sara and Lee came over for the yard sale. Took much of the left over decorator items. We will offer the balance to the staff here.

GZ2. Week ends with 75th

April 15 – shopping and looking a gas prices. $2.50-$2.60 Not in Cali!

April 16. A fine NE day. Rain, some snow, 37 degrees and lots of wind. Lots.

QB made a fine card for KB’s 75th. The theme is our new fortress squirrel constructed during the year of staying inside. Fortress squirrel, new electrical panels, re-design of the back yard,

A time KB much enjoyed spending with QB

GZ2 and 75th

April 15, shopping day. Passed many gas stations with gas around $2.50-$2.60. Not in Cali!

April 16. BDay card with Fortress Squirrel theme. The fortress, updated electrical panels, backyard redesigned were just some of the, at least for KB, the enjoyable year of staying sequestered.

Geezer Tower 2.0

Some early observations

Air Quality really good. Quite a difference,

Our new Rhode Island abode is now named. Reminiscent of Binghamton days where we lived in a building we named Geezer Towers. Of course, at the time we were not the geezers. And now we are.

Arrival.

Above, just some of the large collection of boxes from the Amazon, UPS and USPS moving company

Fab views

Fruit desert, nothing like Cali

Outstanding staff. All of them.

Many small items to fix, staff helping with many but others will require outside work, Not much.

Tuesday, finished unboxing with fab tool. Then off to Wickford a charming late 18th century town.

Early dinner

Calistoga Solage

An uneventful ride to Solage, with a short stop at Oska in Mill Valley.

Nice welcome and room at Solage and then off to the hot tub. Decent temp. Good IR sauna right next to the hot tub.

By then dinner time. We booked at the restaurant in the hotel. Enjoyed a good meal.

Tuesday.

A good start to the day: hot tub, sauna and a shower in the fine locker room here.

Breakfast: at roastery

Overcast day near hotel

Off to Healdsburg looking for the perfect bakery. Nice ride over the hills.

Another hot tub while QB did massive gym. Impressive. I chilled or really just warmed.

Dinner at Lovina, at the end of the main street in Calistoga.

Wednesday. Early morning at the gym. Empty, but yoga studio full with rubber people bending in ways I could only imagine.

St. Helena for touristing and bakeries. Found a place, Napa Valley Olive Oil and bought several large bottles.

Dinner at Sams Place. Good American fare. Started with a dozen hog island oysters… the then there were none as I had eaten every one. The restaurant, as all so far, have been quiet enough to have a conversation, unlike the places at home.

Dinner, QB’s included something called “airline chicken”. Basically a breast with a wing. Waiter claimed this is normal name for chicken like this. Never heard of it and wonder if others have.

QB got to roast in the sauna.

Night sky, Android style.

Thursday. Morning tour of Caymus winery in Rutherford.

Nice tasting if a bit chilly. Bought some.

Dinner again at solage. One item on the menu said truffles from burgandy. I asked the waiter about them pointing that…well..he said they are from France. Case closed. Left it at that.
